- Have personal quiet time each day. Today I read Proverbs 18 and verse 15 really rang a bell for me today. "The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge." I am SO thankful for the time I will get to have with the Lord this summer.
- Read in a parenting book each day. I'm currently reading a potty training book and Rock Solid Kids by Larry Fowler. My sister recommended it to me. It's all about the "why" of children's ministry - and one of it's big premises is that "children's ministry" is at home. It's a fairly easy read, a good read, and I find myself wanting to read this book. That isn't always the case with parenting books for me
- Pray, pray, pray. There are so many things on my heart to pray for. People, jobs, health, safety, protection, you know.... the list goes on!
- Do summer school with my little one. See below..
- Enjoy time with David and my little one! Really - this is something that happens anyway!
- Blog? Maybe.... seems like a good goal that I generally set for myself at some point each year... and never follow through with. So realistically - this could be my blog post for the year! Let's hope not!
- Bible memorization - okay, so maybe I'm a bit idealistic on this, but I think that if you want to reach the heart of a child, you need to help them from the beginning. My thought was this - she may not be able to understand it, but if she's memorizing it, the vocabulary will be there for when the understanding comes. Children memorize nursery rhymes, so why not scripture! We are working through the ABC book from the Families for Bible Memory Association. It's just right for her. She's already has 4 verses solid and two more on the way.
- lots of playtime and reading with mommy
- working on numbers, letters, colors - because she already knows her animals and Disney Princesses
So, good by, until the next post!
