General Advice on Music Gigs

Advice... if you are going to a music gig... have the phone number of your contact person with you.

Advice... if you are in charge of a music gig... have every ones phone numbers.

Advice... try to avoid divas... gig or no gig!

Advice... have one assistant for every 30 singers and one assistant for every 10 musicians... until you get the hang of working and directing large groups of musicians... then it can be one assistant for every 40 singers, and one for every 25 musicians.... or then just rely on one assistant and section leaders.

Advice... aways bring all the parts in the score with you, and bring your originals... just in case! Sometime, it will come in handy.

Advice... bring an extra black shirt. Who knows who'll need it!

Advice... wear comfortable clothing to conduct in, and secure it properly. :D

Advice... figure out a pay scale for your musicians and stick to it.

Advice... remember to have fun! After all, it's music, expression, art, and it speaks in ways we can't describe.... it wont be able to speak much if you are tense and stressed out!
