Substitution

Oh, the joys of being a last minute substitute
Very little work, earning extra money... it's quite a hoot!
Sitting around, doing not much of anything
Just supervision, "Be quiet," and classroom babysitting!
Subbing isn't the most exciting of all pastimes,
But it brings in extra dollars, and extra dimes.
It's great for those long busy rushing days,
As it makes you stop, rest and have time to browse eBay.
You get to read, and text, and sometimes even blog
It's much better than having to paint, or run a jog.
The bummer of this easy gig, I think, tis' true
That sitting on a chair too long, makes you get a bit blue
Many times a sub gets called so late
Because the teachers wait too long and contemplate.
But at least, thank goodness, there is compensation
For your time, for some other teacher's procrastination.
In band you might have to teach a harp, kazoo, or flute,
But, still, I'd just prefer to be a last minute substitute
