The Big Debate

To go to a football game.... or not to.... It's not a very hard question.

So, I found out this afternoon that my group is not singing the alma mater at the next two football games.... and that also means.... that I don't really have to go tomorrow night. Only the following week for the national anthem. I was hoping to hang with some work friends tomorrow night, but as it looks, none of them are going.... so... not sure if I really want to fight the parking hassle... and besides last week I was so cold and had the most crazy allergies. If I don't go, then I can have the evening at home and watch the rest of Pride and Prejudice, that was started last week... we've been watching it in spurts. We're only halfway through episode 2, out of 6 episodes. At this rate, we'll be done with the movie in December... Anyway, what do you think I should do?

And then the other big question.... is it appropriate to throw yourself your own birthday party? I'm not wanting presents from friends.... I just want to hang out with them all together... and play Blitz, Skipbo, Apples to Apples, and Encore. (Mostly Blitz!) What's the verdict on this one? Any useful thoughts?

Birthday - Why not? I kind of don't like how parties are synonymous with gift giving. My presence should be gift enough... er, I mean, I just love to have friends over. Seriously though, we've have similar "parties" and the people who really want to bring something do, and the rest just came to hang out for fun, no pressure. I feel the same about weddings... invite the people you want to see, don't worry about the gifts (half of them aren't worth it anyway!).

I'm ending my novel now.

Well, so the decision was to stay home from the game... but the deciding factor was the lack of singing the alma mater tonight... I'll be there for next week. Hopefully we can get a big group of teachers to hang out for that! It'll be fun!
